I used to get the Royal Canin Renal LP Feline Pouch style food, my cat at age 17 with kidney disease liked it. Now, they have changed the formula and processing and put it in a can.....My cat doesn't care for it. Anyone that has an older feline knows that they get picky and with kidney disease there aren't many choices out there and now the one choice my cat would eat is gone. The new style smells terrible and the pieces are bigger....cat doesn't care for it. I've tried to ease her into it, but she likes the pouch/old style.....I contacted Royal Canin and they had no sympathy or suggestions. They really didn't seem to care that their food palatability/quality has declined. I was very disappointed with that attitude and hope I can find something my cat will eat.

I have three aging cats who all have kidney issues. My vet suggested Renal LP and I was happy to see that Amazon offered it. One of my cats had chronic urinary tract infections (UTI) nearly every month. Since she has been on Renal LP it has been about seven months before she had a UTI. All three cats love the taste and gobble it up as soon as I can get it on their plates. It is a little bit cheaper through Amazon than PetSmart, but I wish Amazon would offer it through Subscribe and Save so that I can schedule it to come once a month. I recommend this product for cats with kidney issues, but would advise that you check with your vet first before starting your cat on this diet.

My cat has just been diagnosed with early-stage Kidney disease and the vet sold us this food which is supposed to produce less waste products and keep him hydrated. But the smell is so foul that we are looking for another alternative. Our cat has always been finnicky and grazes all day. The smell of this food sitting out spreads throughout the house and is overpowering. We tried running an exhaust fan in the bathroom where his food is, but that didn't help.
